Teeth Whitening

There’s almost nothing more frustrating when you do your best to keep your teeth clean and healthy, but they remain dull and stained. The technological advances of today have made it possible for us to change that. If what we just described fits how you feel about your smile, you’re probably a great candidate for teeth whitening!

What Is Teeth Whitening? How Does it Work?

When your teeth seemed stained no matter how much you brush them and have them cleaned professionally, teeth whitening can take care of the rest. Teeth whitening is the process dentists use to whiten teeth.

Teeth often become gradually stained over time as we eat and drink various substances. Drinks like coffee and sugary soda often stain teeth, as do other types of acidic foods like berries and fruit juices.

Teeth whitening works to break down discolored molecules that lie beneath the surface of the tooth enamel. The teeth whitening agents soak down past the enamel layer and work to break the bonds of the discolored molecules. Once those bonds are broken, the discoloration fades away.

At Drs Chapman & Owens, we offer two forms of teeth whitening: In-office Zoom! and take-home Captivate by NuPro.

In-Office Zoom! Teeth Whitening

In-office whitening is usually much faster with more noticeable results. The procedure only takes about an hour. You’ll make an appointment to see us. When you arrive, we’ll place the scientifically-formulated whitening gel on your teeth.

This gel is activiated with the Zoom! light that will cause the gel to begin breaking the bonds of discolored molecules below the surface of the enamel.

Take-Home Captive by NuPro

If you lead a busy life with little to no time to come in for a whitening appointment, our take-home whitening kit, Captivate by NuPro, is perfect for you!

With this option, you put the gel into trays that you place on your teeth. Wait the allotted amount of time before removing the trays. You’ll repeat this process with the amount of gel you have to get whiter, brighter teeth.
