Custom oral appliances for easier breathing and real rest.

Person sleeping restfully

Have you been told you snore? Do you wake in the middle of the night for no apparent reason, or spend the whole day exhausted even after a full eight hours of sleep?

Snoring is common, but sometimes that noisy act while you’re asleep points to something more serious — like sleep apnea.

What Is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a potentially serious sleep disorder in which obstructed breathing causes you to wake repeatedly through the night. Breathing can stop entirely for short periods, often jolting you awake so it can resume.

The obstruction happens when the muscles supporting the soft tissues of the throat relax during sleep. As those tissues settle, the airway narrows and breathing momentarily halts.

What Are the Symptoms?

Losing both oxygen and restful sleep night after night produces symptoms that can seem unrelated to sleep at all:

Signs During Sleep

  • Loud snoring or loud breathing
  • Breathing through the mouth
  • Dry mouth or dry throat on waking
  • Insomnia and frequent waking
  • Nightmares

Effects During the Day

  • Daytime exhaustion and sleepiness
  • Fatigue that rest doesn’t relieve
  • Morning headaches
  • Irritability and mood swings
  • Low mood
  • Weight gain

As that list makes clear, sleep apnea is a serious condition that can affect many seemingly unrelated parts of your life.

Treatments for Sleep Apnea

If you suspect you’re dealing with sleep apnea — or you know a friend or loved one is — talk to us. We can help you get the treatment you need for the sleep you deserve.

Sleep apnea is diagnosed by a sleep physician. Once you have a diagnosis, we can work alongside your physician to provide a treatment option: a custom oral appliance. If you’re a good candidate, the appliance holds your airway open through the night so you can breathe easily and get real rest.
